CelloPiano

Gideon Freudmann, Cellobop

CelloPiano is a new collaboration between cellist/composer Gideon Freudmann & pianist Sheila Weidendorf. Playing original compositions & spontaneous music, their combined musical lexicon is whimsical, jazzy, dramatic, humorous, expansive, wistful, serene and beautiful.

Gideon Freudmann began studying cello at age 8, and almost immediately tried his hand at composition. His early attempts were... ambitious. He explored solo cello forays to duets, string ensembles, and later pieces for ensembles including guitar, ukulele, mandolin, steel drum and various western and world instruments. He has published a catalog of string chamber music. Gideon has toured in 4 continents, recorded 25 albums, scored several modern films and he performs live soundtracks for classic silent films.

Sheila Weidendorf inherited an old Cable Wellington upright grand piano at about age 6 and started playing it, exploring the sounds she heard from the stereo, and from her rural environment. She began studying in earnest at age 9, eventually earning her B.A. in Music from the University of Minnesota School of Music. She is equally comfortable playing classical music, improvisation and working as music director for theatre productions She recently released her first solo album of keyboard meditations.
